The 5th World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) 2026,
held in Jakarta’s SCBD district, marked a pivotal moment in advancing an
inclusive global creative economy. Bringing together a diverse range of
speakers to provide insights into on-the-ground realities and address current
issues in Indonesia, the event, held from 21 to 25 October 2026, was also
marked by an expression of humanitarian solidarity through a joint prayer for
efforts to address forest and land fires in Kalimantan.
Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar,
reaffirmed her broader vision that the creative economy should serve a purpose
beyond merely driving financial growth. “Our hope, of course, is that the
economy can become a platform for bringing people together, regardless of race,
ethnicity, or religion,” Irene Umar said following an interactive discussion
session in Jakarta’s SCBD district on Saturday, 24 October 2026.
Furthermore, WCCE 2026 was strategically designed as a
platform for expanding professional networks and fostering tangible
collaboration between local creative industry players and international
partners. These efforts aim to strengthen Indonesia’s national creative
ecosystem and enhance its competitiveness on the global stage.
To establish a sustainable ecosystem, cross-sector collaboration is considered essential to unlocking investment opportunities and accelerating the adoption of modern technologies. Such collaboration is expected to drive more inclusive economic growth.
